Headline habit

The region’s largest newspaper Sydsvenskan does it again. True to its habit it paints a negative picture of the Scanians, whom the newspaper headline editor does not seem to have much sympathy for. In today’s Sydsvenskan two headlines are staring you in the face on its front page: “Scanian pimp is being hunted” and “Scanian CEO is prosecuted for insider crimes”.

How do we know they are Scanians? We live in a free part of the world where people move and settle anywhere. How do we now that the person in question aren’t from somewhere else and just lives here? As far as we know they could even be from Stockholm. Why do Sydsvenskan persist in its insulting anti-Scanian headline policy?

The front page headlines have little bearing in the articles themselves. Why use them?
